President Barack Obama and the presidents of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador plan to huddle at the White House in a week to discuss stemming the flow of children and families from the three Central American countries, the White House said Friday.
With action from Congress looking less likely, it appears the administration will have to work within existing law to deal with the crisis created by tens of thousands of unaccompanied children and families trekking to the U.S. border, most arriving in the Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Guatemala President Otto Perez Molina, Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez and El Salvador President Salvador Snachez Ceren were scheduled to lunch first with Vice President Joe Biden during their July 25 meeting. The four will then meet with Obama.
Earlier Friday, women and children boarded flights in Roswell, N.M. returning to their respective countries.
