At least 30 people have been killed after two female suicide bombers blew themselves up in a market in the north-east Nigerian city of Maiduguri.
Abba Aji Kalli, the Borno state co-ordinator of the civilian joint task force, said two teenage girls had been dressed in full hijab before detonating their explosives.
The incident took place in a packed market-place, security officers said.
The first woman set off her explosives and killed about three women, according to Mr Kalli.
When others gathered around the scene, the second bomber screamed and blew herself up, killing roughly 30 women, he said.
He added: 'I am right here at the scene and I have before me 11 corpses ... many have been taken away by relatives, while others are taken to the state specialists' hospital.'
Soldiers and police officers cordoned off the area while rescue workers helped survivors to the hospital.
Nigeria's Islamic extremist rebel group, Boko Haram, are suspected of the suicide blasts. They have carried out many similar violent acts in north-eastern Nigeria.
Today's blast is the first in Maiduguri since July 2, when 56 people were killed in the same market area when a car bomb hit a group of traders and shoppers.
Nigerian police have yet to issue a statement.
