The weather forecast for the East Coast doesn't look good either, meteorologists expecting heavy snow. According to the National Weather Service, holiday travel in New York will be the most impacted, with 4 inches of snow predicted to cover the city. Other pars of the northeast should also be preparing for heavy snowfall and at least a foot of snow in heavily hit areas. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest day for holiday travel, so thousands of people were left stranded in airports, hoping that their flights would only be delayed, not canceled. Alas, most of their hopes were in vain.
The Emergency Operations Center in New York has been activated in the wake of the pretty much cancelled holiday travel, sending out over 1800 snow plows. Even though roads will be cleared eventually, air travel will remain restricted until further notice. Those who wanted to visit their families yesterday and had booked flights ultimately chose to drive out of state so that they wouldn't miss the holidays. Families decided to get into their cars and do their holiday travel differently this year. Since Thanksgiving is one of the biggest holidays in the US, it is understandable that people were pretty distressed after the massive amount of flights delayed and canceled. The weather has been pretty surprising this year, with Buffalo residents hit by a staggering amount of snowfall this year. Buffalo weather has since become an internet meme, since residents were amazed by how bad the weather actually got this time of year. The latest bad weather which affected holiday travel mainly skipped Buffalo this time, but the weather forecast can be just so accurate.
