Sarah Palin, who is reportedly up for the job of Secretary of Veterans Affairs in the incoming Trump administration, took to the Web today to criticize Trump’s deal with Carrier to keep 1,000 or so jobs in the US while moving another 1,300 or so to Mexico.
Palin called Trump’s deal “socialism” and “crony capitalism.”
Yeah, she really did.
Palin starts by saying she’s glad to hear some jobs were saved.
I am ecstatic for Carrier employees! Their bosses just decided to keep shop onshore. What a relief for hundreds of workers. Merry Christmas Indiana!
But Brutus is an honorable man, and Palin goes all in on criticizing the deal:
When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent. Meanwhile, the invisible hand that best orchestrates a free people’s free enterprise system gets amputated. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.
Politicians picking and choosing recipients of corporate welfare is railed against by fiscal conservatives, for it’s a hallmark of corruption. And socialism.
Palin continues, under the false impression that Trump is a Reaganite:
Reaganites learned it is POLICY change that changes economic trajectory. Reagan’s successes were built on establishing a fiscal framework that invigorated our entire economy, revitalized growth and investment while decreasing spending, tax rates, over-reaching regulations, unemployment, and favoritism via individual subsidies. We need Reaganites in the new Administration.
However well meaning, burdensome federal government imposition is never the solution. Never. Not in our homes, not in our schools, not in churches, not in businesses.
Gotta’ have faith the Trump team knows all this.
In fact, one of Trump’s economic adviser went to Capital Hill last week and told House Republicans that the GOP was no longer the party of Reagan — it’s now the party of Trump.
Moore surprised some of the Republican lawmakers assembled at their closed-door whip meeting last Tuesday when he told them they should no longer think of themselves as belonging to the conservative party of Ronald Reagan.
They now belong to Trump’s populist working-class party, he said.
A source briefed on the House GOP whip meeting — which Moore attended as a guest of Majority Whip Steve Scalise — said several lawmakers told him they were taken aback by the economist’s comments.
So don’t expect Trump to be trumpeting old Ronnie any time soon. Reagan is dead, and Trump just put a stake through him. And for anyone who still doubts this, do you think Ronald Reagan would have welcomed Russia’s help in throwing our election?
