By now, you’ve probably heard of Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s one of two new QAnon-conspiracy-supporting Republican members of Congress — the other is Lauren Boebert of Colorado. And while Boebert is bad — think a younger, crazier Sarah Palin — Greene is from another planet entirely.

Initially, folks were worried about Greene because of her QAnon affinity, which she now denies. (QAnon, you’ll recall, is the conspiracy theory that there’s a secret international cabal of anti-Trump Satan-worshipping pedophiles run by the Clintons, George Soros, and Oprah, among others.) But now, being conspiracy-curious is the least of her concerns.
Greene has a long history of cuckoo. In addition to embracing QAnon, Greene has said that Muslim members of Congress should “go back to the Middle East.” She has also “suggested that Muslims do not belong in government; thinks black people ‘are held slaves to the Democratic Party’; called George Soros, a Jewish Democratic megadonor, a Nazi; and said she would feel ‘proud’ to see a Confederate monument if she were black because it symbolizes progress made since the Civil War.”
But this week, things got markedly worse when CNN’s KFile discovered that Greene had “liked” Facebook comments calling for US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to be assassinated. Commenters were discussing Pelosi being removed from the speakership, and one wrote: “a bullet to the head would be quicker.” Green “liked” that specific comment, which typically means you agree with it. She also liked a second comment about Pelosi that read: “through removal or death, doesn’t matter, as long as she goes.”
Greene has also discussed “hanging” President Obama and Hillary Clinton, and she suggested separately, in a video on Facebook, that Pelosi should be executed for treason:
“She’s a traitor to our country, she’s guilty of treason,” Greene says in the video, which she posted on Facebook at the time. “She took an oath to protect American citizens and uphold our laws. And she gives aid and comfort to our enemies who illegally invade our land. That’s what treason is. And by our law representatives and senators can be kicked out and no longer serve in our government. And it’s, uh, it’s a crime punishable by death is what treason is. Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason.”
Also this week, CNN found that on her Facebook page, Greene also liked comments about executing FBI agents.
Greene’s defense is that lots of people ran her Facebook page: “Over the years, I’ve had teams of people manage my pages. Many posts have been liked. Many posts have been shared. Some did not represent my views. Especially the ones that CNN is about to spread across the internet,” she tweeted.
Green has also defended herself by noting that these actions occurred before she joined Congress earlier this month. Several of these incidents happened in 2018 and 2019. It is not clear how that makes these views any more palatable…. READ MORE
