USADaily -
CNN reports that the Trump transition is purging itself of everything “Christie.” And the NYT says the Trump transition is in “turmoil.”
Ah, schadenfreude.
What’s particularly sad — or funny — about the Christie development is that Chris Christie sold his soul (as it is) for Donald Trump.
Who can forget the time Chris Christie introduced Trump, and then uncomfortably squirmed behind Trump for 30 minutes?
That video led to quite a social media meltdown:
The most recent, and high level, victim of the anti-Christie purge is former GOP House member Mike Rogers, who led the House Intelligence Committee. Rogers was unceremoniously shown the door today. Roger was overseeing National Security transition, a hugely important role. And now he’s out. I can’t imagine Rogers doesn’t still have some friends in Congress who are going to be none-too-pleased about this. That doesn’t mean they’ll take on Trump, yet. But instead of building bridges with Republicans, Trump is burning them.
There some speculation the putsch is the doing of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. You see, Christie had Kushner’s father locked up, and Kushner may now be getting his revenge:
Two people familiar with the transition said Christie’s top deputy, Rich Bagger, had run afoul of Kushner….
The other pointed out that Kushner’s father was prosecuted and convicted for tax evasion, illegal campaign donations and witness tampering by Christie during his time as a U.S. attorney.
“Jared doesn’t like Christie,” the person said. “He’s always held that against Christie.”
How incredibly petty, if true. And what’s worse, Kushner is supposed to be acting in the best interests of Donald Trump, not the best interest of a cold dish of revenge for his own father.
With the election of Donald Trump, AMERICAblog’s independent journalism and activism is more needed than ever.
