Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler discovered an interesting tidbit buried in the Congressional Budget Office analysis of the earlier House GOP Obamacare repeal bill, that isn’t that much different from this one.
According to CBO, House Republicans will save $3 billion in Social Security payments because more people will be dead after the bill passes:
The passage reads, on page 33 of the CBO analysis:
“CBO also estimates that outlays for Social Security benefits would decrease by about $3 billion over the 2017-2026 period.”
That appears to suggest that people will die because of this legislation, and the government thus won’t have to pay them Social Security. Woo woo!
Talk about your death panels.
No wonder the Republicans exempted themselves from the repeal.
ActBlue has set up a convenient page whereby you can make a single donation, and they will split it for you and give an each portion to every Democratic challenger of House Republicans who wavered in their support of the Affordable Care Act and its protections.
Also, add your name to this petition pledging to donate and volunteer to unseat every Republican who has voted to repeal Obamacare. We can scare them with our numbers. Let’s show them just how strong the Resistance really is.
With the election of Donald Trump, AMERICAblog’s independent journalism and activism is more needed than ever.
