Vying for the title of dumbest congressmen ever, Republican Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) was at pains yesterday to explain to CNN’s Manu Raju how he knew that the House Obamacare repeal bill would lower costs and increase benefits, since the Republicans voted on the bill before the Congressional Budget Office had a chance to review it.
In other words, as Raju pointed out, no one knows what the bill will do. So how did Mast?
Mast’s response was somewhat lacking. The only thing he could tell Raju was: “Because I know.” I posted the clip last night on Twitter. It’s already been shared over 12,000 times.
The most common reaction to the video was unprintable; but the second most common was “smug.” Mast did himself no favors by constantly smirking at Raju while he was unable to answer why he voted the way he did to take healthcare away from 24 million Americans.
