An airplane ran off the runway at Hanscom Field, causing it to erupt in flames Saturday evening, officials said.
The plane, a Gulfstream IV, was departing from the airport's Runway 11 at about 9:40 p.m., according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on board, the statement said.
Hanscom is on the property of Bedford, Lexington, and Lincoln, according to Lexington police Lieutenant Christopher Barry. He said the plane was believed to be on Bedford property.
Police and firefighters from Bedford and Lexington were responding, police officials said.
