This TV anchor really delivers the news.
A Detroit dad learned that police found his missing son during a live TV interview.
Police found 12-year-old Charlie Bothuell V, who was missing for 11 days, in his father's basement Wednesday afternoon.
The boy's dad, Charlie Bothuell IV, was in an interview with HLN's Nancy Grace at the time. His phone's battery was dead, too.
So the anchor broke the news to the Detroit dad - on live TV.
Bothuell looked surprised and confused. Unable to speak, he clutched his forehead and breathed deeply.
'I checked my basement,' Bothuell finally said. 'The FBI checked my basement. The police checked my basement. My wife checked my basement.'
It's unclear why the missing boy staked out in his own home for nearly two weeks, but police said they are investigating possible child abuse charges against his father, My Fox Detriot reported.
Police said Charlie's dad might have beaten the 12-year-old with a PVC pipe.

Early in the investigation, officers found blood in his room and on his clothes. For a period, they wondered if they were investigating a homicide.
Bothuell said he strictly disciplined his boy - who was homeschooled and on a stringent exercise regime - but never abused the child. No charges have been filed, and officers are still investigating those claims.
Police said the boy likely did not act alone in the plot to hide.
They found Charlie behind a barricade, carefully constructed to allow him access to a tunnel that he could use to get outside. He likely came and went as he pleased, officers said.

'There's no way he could have erected this make-shift area of concealment,' Detroit Police Chief James Craig told FOX.
Charlie told investigators his stepmom, Monique, helped him hide. His father and the family's attorney denied that claim.
Previously, Monique told police the boy went missing after he failed to complete the daily exercise routine his father demanded of him.
Worried his dad would be angry, Charlie ran away on June 14, she said.

When they found Charlie, the boy had food and water. He seemed to be well taken care of.
Charlie was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation, but appeared to be fine, police said. His biological mother is caring for him, now.
