An Amtrak train carrying 180 passengers from Washington D.C. to Boston partially derailed overnight after colliding with a truck on the tracks in Mansfield, Massachusetts in what police are referring to as a very large crime scene.
WCVB reported that Amtrak train 132 collided with the vehicle, forcing the train off the tracks. There were no injuries reported for the 222 passengers and crew onboard. The report added that police confirmed the truck was occupied, but would not indicate how many or whether they were hurt.
WBZ-TV reported that MBTA service between Providence and Boston is expecting some delays, while Amtrak service to and from Back Bay, Route 128, and South Stations is canceled for Monday morning's commute while crews work to remove the derailed train and make repairs to the tracks.
