BREAKING:
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon ordered the National Guard to begin withdrawing from the city of Ferguson on Thursday, citing continued 'improvement' in security there. 'The situation has greatly improved with fewer incidents of outside instigators interfering with peaceful protesters, and fewer acts of violence,' Nixon said in a statement.
The governor called in the Guard on Monday and charged them with protecting the command center where officials were coordinating the response to protests that erupted after the police shooting of an unarmed teen. Nixon said the Guard will work with the State Highway Patrol in carrying out a 'systematic process of withdrawing.'
