Iran has hanged a woman who killed a man she claimed was trying to sexually abuse her, despite an international campaign to stop the execution.
Reyhaneh Jabbari died in a Tehran prison, reports the BBC.
The 26-year-old had been charged for killing a former employee of Iran's ministry of intelligence, Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi.
She had always claimed self-defense.
The interior designer claimed she was lured to his home on the pretense of work, but he then attacked her.
Jabbari, who was just 19 at the time, stabbed her attacker after the assault in 2007.

She admitted to the murder, but it was claimed that her confession was extracted from her under intense pressure by authorities.
Her conviction had caused an outcry, with Amnesty International claiming the investigation against her was deeply flawed.
But Sarbandi's family said she had to change her version of events to be reprieved.
Iran is believed to have the second highest execution rate in the world, just behind China.
