USADaily - It seemed like something was amiss when Josh Gordon hadn't yet been reinstated from his year-long suspension. As it turns out, the Cleveland Browns receiver failed another drug test last month, according to Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo.
The cause for the positive test was a diluted sample, Garafolo reported. The report also said that each sample Gordon gave tested positive for marijuana but not to the level that triggers a positive test result. However, a diluted sample is considered a positive test.
The Fox Sports report said that it doesn't mean Gordon will be suspended again. But after applying for reinstatement in February, this has clouded the issue as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell considers Gordon's case.
Gordon has had drug issues since college. He tested positive for alcohol and because he was a multiple offender in the NFL's drug policy, that was considered a violation and he was suspended for the 2015 season. On Monday it was reported Gordon is living with Johnny Manziel, who was cut by the Browns after his own off-field issues.
At the NFL scouting combine in February, Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said the team was saving a roster space for Gordon.
“We’re very limited in terms of what we can do with communication and contact with Josh,” Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said Thursday at the NFL scouting combine. “Josh, we know, is working out and, by all signs, he’s on the path to come back and be reinstated. It’s a process that the team is not involved with. We will leave that, and I will not comment on that, but Josh is a tremendously talented young man."
Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013 but has played in just five games since then. On Monday, ESPN reported he was living with former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel.
