Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum getting up to mischief in 22 Jump Street
Jonah Hill has vowed never to use a homophobic slur again.
The 30-year-old actor was caught on camera using offensive language over the weekend. He was being followed by a paparazzo at the time and lashed out, calling the photographer a 'f****t'.
Yesterday he apologised for using the word during several interviews and has done the same while on Good Morning America today.
'It's never OK to use that kind of language,' he said. 'I personally vow to never ever use that word again and I urge everyone to do the same.
'Words can be really destructive. And this kind of defamatory language can have a profound effect on someone who's questioning their sexuality.'
Yesterday Jonah appeared on Howard Stern 's radio show where he fully admitted using the term. He apologised unreservedly and said he was happy to be the 'poster boy' for thinking properly before speaking.
He explained the photographer in question had been following him and making remarks about his loved ones.
Jonah has previously spoken out in support of gay rights and in an appearance on Jimmy Fallon 's Tonight Show last night he again discussed how sincerely he regrets what he said.
'My heart's broken and I genuinely am deeply sorry to anyone who's ever been affected by that term in their life, and I'm sorry, and I don't deserve or expect your forgiveness,' he said. 'But what I ask is that at home, if you're watching this, and you're a young person especially, if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do. And don't respond with hatred or anger. Because you're just adding more ugliness to the world.'
