SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - There is new information Sunday morning on the Ebola scare in Massachusetts.
The patient who could have the Ebola virus here in Massachusetts is actually Dr. Richard Sacra.
Sacra was treated for the Ebola virus in Nebraska in September, and then returned home to Massachusetts.
He became infected with Ebola while visiting West Africa.
He is now sick for a second time, this time in Worcester.
The hospital says they are prepared to handle the case if the patient's test results are positive.
It is important to note if Ebola is confirmed in Massachusetts, one case alone probably wouldn't pose a health risk to the public.
The CDC says the virus is only contagious if the patient is showing symptoms of Ebola, which includes fever, vomiting, or bleeding.
Even then, in order to contract Ebola, you'd need to have direct contact with that person's blood, urine, saliva, vomit, and sweat.
That's the only information the hospital has released.
The CDC says they should have Dr. Sacra's test results in fewer than 36 hours.
