The First Lady of New York City wore royal purple Monday when she met Kate Middleton in Harlem.
Chirlane McCray greeted the visiting royal with a firm handshake - but no curtsy - when she welcomed her to the Northside Center for Child Development.
While Kate took the tour, her husband Prince William was still in Washington and expected to rendezvous with her later at the Manhattan residence of the British Consul General.
There, Kate will be eating for two - she's five-months pregnant with the royal couple's second child.
The prince was scheduled to attend what his royal handlers called Conservation Reception later at the residence, and meet and mingle with invited guests like Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Then it's off to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the fab pair to see the Nets take on Lebron (King James) James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Earlier, Prince William had a solo morning meeting at the White House with President Obama where they pair sat side-by-side in the Oval Office and exchange pleasantries in front of a pack of reporters straining to hear what they were saying.
Both men were wearing dark suits. But William's tie was red while Obama's was blue.
Prince William and Kate were greeted by well-wishers and the Empire State Building lit up in the red, white and blue of the British Union Jack on Sunday when they arrived in New York City for their three-day visit to the former British colonies.
The British colors are also flying beside the stars and stripes at The Carlyle, where the couple is staying.
