The Trump White House is planning to “bribe” moderate Republican Senators with money to fight the opium crisis, to get them to support the draconian Senate Obamacare repeal bill, according to a Trump administration source who spoke with Axios’ Jonathan Swan.
What’s worse, the same source says the Republicans will them move the bill even further to the right, in order to entice conservative Republicans to support it.
The thing is, the bill is already almost exactly like the arch-conservative House Republican health care bill, under which 23 million will lose insurance, people with pre-existing conditions will see premiums soar and coverage disappear, and everyone will see significant increases in their deductibles. Even Donald Trump said the House bill was “too mean.”
The Senate bill, by contrast, will cost 22 million people their insurance, per the Congressional Budget Office. And it too decimates pre-existing condition protections, benefits, and will significantly raise deductibles to the point that CBO says many will simply opt not to buy insurance at all because it will be too expensive.
And now they plan to make this bill even more conservative?
One wonders how Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski and Dean Heller feel about this? Will they sign on to a bill that will now become even more conservative, simply because Trump throws some opioid money at it?
So what can you do?
At this point, skip the petitions, and start calling members of Congress and/or showing up at protests outside their offices. While every member of Congress needs to hear the message “vote against any legislation that repeals the Affordable Care Act,” obviously the Republicans in particularly need to hear from you. And while ever Republican can use a phone call, there are a few in particular that we need to be focusing on.
a. You can contact your Senators by calling the main US Senate switchboard and asking the operator who your Senators are: (202) 224-3121.
b. In particular, the following Republican Senators could use special attention, and may be winnable as they’re moderate and vulnerable as many of the other more conservative Senators. And the DC office phones are often too busy to get thru, in that case try the local office (and feel free to call both anyway).

c. If you don’t to call, at lease send an email letter to your members of Congress, urging them to vote NO on any attempt to repeal Obamacare. I’ve set up an easy form you can use to email your members directly.
The only thing that can stop this bill is putting more pressure on these Republicans than they’re currently getting from their base. They need to fear us politically more than they fear the Deplorables. So call them and be firm. Especially if you’re from one of the states above.
