A Kansas company has issued a massive recall of ground beef products after some tested positive for E.coli.
National Beef Packing Co. voluntarily recalled over 50,000 pounds of ground beef after a strain of the bacteria was found in one 10-pound sample, the company said Wednesday in a statement issued on its website. No illnesses have yet been reported.
The products in question were produced July 18 with a use by/freeze by date of August 7 and shipped to retailers, wholesalers and food service distributors nationwide.
In June, National Beef voluntarily recalled 23,000 pounds of ground beef after E.coli was found.
E.coli infections can occur after coming into contact with raw or undercooked meat that has been contaminated. Symptoms include bloody diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.
