A White House staffer reportedly accused Politico reporter Tara Palmeri of “threatening” them, simply because Palmeri asked the aide why Politico, CNN, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Buzzfeed were banned from yesterday’s White House press briefing.
The aide responded: “You’re threatening me.”
And a tiny little snowflake melted that day.
Donald Trump instituted yesterday’s sweeping censorship in retaliation for an explosive story detailing White House efforts to obstruct an investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russian intelligence.
Here’s the reporter on MSNBC:
The follow-on to that story was even more damaging to Donald Trump. Not only did White House chief of staff Reince Priebus try to use the FBI for political purposes in order to falsely exonerate Trump’s staff in the Russia investigation, but the White House also enlisted the House and Senate intelligence chairs in the effort, who agreed to help. That means Congress is now compromised, and the Republican intelligence committee chairs must recuse themselves from any investigation of Trump’s Russia ties.
The only option remaining is for the Attorney General — or his deputy, since the Attorney General is also compromised because of his status as a former member of the Trump campaign — must appoint a special counsel to investigate this entire issue fairly and impartially.
Conservative Republican congressman Darrell Issa echoed that sentiment last night on Bill Maher, where he called for Attorney General Sessions to recuse himself and appoint a special counsel.
Please add your name to those calling on the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel to investigate this entire Russia scandal.
