USADaily -
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump today kicked a crying baby out of his rally in Ashburn, Virginia.
The baby had been crying during Trump’s speech.
Trump at first told the mother of the crying infant that it was not a problem, as he loved babies.
Trump continued with his speech, then stopped and asked the woman to leave.
Politico reports:
“Don’t worry about that baby. I love babies,” Trump said after hearing the baby crying during an aside about the trade imbalance. “Don’t worry about it. I love babies. I hear that baby crying, I like it. What a baby. What a beautiful baby. Don’t worry, don’t worry. The mom’s running around like—don’t worry about it, you know. It’s young and beautiful and healthy and that’s what we want.”
Trump then turned back to the woman and let her have it:
“Actually, I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here,” the Republican nominee said to laughter and applause. “That’s all right. Don’t worry. I, I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I’m speaking. That’s OK. People don’t understand. That’s OK.”
So not only did he kick the baby out, but he then criticized the mother to the crowd. Which harkens back to last week when Trump criticized the mother of U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who died at the age of 27, during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. Khan’s parents appeared at the DemocraticvConvention, where Mr. Khan criticized Trump for his proposed Muslim ban.
Just last night, the New Yorker’s TV critic Emily Nussbaum tweeted that, in view of all the verbal atrocities Trump was committing, perhaps today he’d go after a baby.
And what do you know.
